Opposition parties in Djibouti declare that they will not participate in unfair elections

CTD (largest political platform with FRUD-ARD-UDJ-FPC-CBBD-LDDH-AJDD), other opposition parties (RADDE, MODEL, MRD) and independent personalities of the civil society have unanimously boycotted the legislative election (planned for February 2023) owing to the absence of a fair ‘’National Independent Election Commission” or “CENI”.

For CENI to be truly independent, it must be composed of both representatives of the government and opposition in equal proportion, with the presidency entrusted to someone accepted by both parties.

Eight years after the agreement was signed by both parties (government and opposition), CENI is still not in place as of January 2023!
